Well as is par. I left my house and all went downhill from there. I was going to the city, my roomie was going to drive me, exchange my damaged luggage (another unrelated horror story, JCPenney can bite my butt!) do a bit of shopping, get ANOTHER passport photo taken, and my roomie was going to take me to lunch. We slid off the road into a ditch, called a tow truck, he hooked up to my stabler bar and snapped it. After taking 2 hours to get there. So now I have a loaner car, and never made it to the city. This is only one of many reasons I don't leave my house. Other than that, the day wasn't half bad :)

Valentine was a priest or bishop, and possibly a physician as well, during the third century in Rome. Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families, so he outlawed marriage for young, unattached males. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, continued to perform marriages in secret for young lovers. Valentine's defiance was discovered, and Claudius ordered him put to death.

well - at that time Christian marriages weren't valid in Rome anyway--- and from what I can gather - *that* particular version of the story wasn't heard of until the late middle ages. Older Valentine stories have him brought before Clauduis and martyred because he "refused to deny Christ" - Claudius had him beheaded, but his jailer, whose daughter Valentine had cured of blindness resuced his head and gave it burial . His daughter wept over the buried head and it brought forth a generous crop of basil.
Of course - that story has several internal inconsistancies - but . . .
