Practice scarf in progress

OK here it is, such that it is. I wish I hadn't started out with the inch of garter but it is a practice piece. At first I really disliked the rough edges but after I got some length to it they started giving it a nice peasant look. I still need to learn how to get a cleaner more refined edge though.

Ya'll are being awfully

Ya'll are being awfully kind, thank you for that. At least I am getting a lot more relaxed with the Continental technique and I'm really enjoying the k1, p1, k1 p1........ There's a certain serenity to it. I can't decide if I want to start sliping the first stitch on each row this far into it or just finish it with as much consistancy as I can.

I wish I were knitting now.

I wouldn't start slipping

I wouldn't start slipping each stitch this far into it, it looks like you have your purling down now and falling into a nice consistent groove, finish it up and worry about the pretty edge on the next one. I mean really, it's always nice to have a few scarves to choose from :)

it's comin along great :) and yup, slip that first stitch as if to knit and you'll get a prettier edge.

Are you slipping the first stich of each row? Many people like the look that always slipping the first stitch gives...

A very common edge stitch is

A very common edge stitch is to slip the first stitch of each row. You insert the needle as if to knit, but *do not knit* the stitch, just transfer it to the right needle.
