I made this beanie loosely based upon a pattern I saw on a piece of pottery. While not perfect I am happier with it than the first attempt at stranding.
*edit: seems the uploads aren't working. I'll post the image when the problem is fixed. In the meantime the image can be seen here http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2326/2185209929_37ff18b340.jpg?v=0

That's really nice work. What pattern do you use for your basic cap? Also, the hat in your photo is great as well. That pattern I would appreciate as well.

Thanks, I don't really use a pattern for them, I just kind of make it up as I go. The one I am wearing in the photo is also one of my own. I did write up a rough pattern for it on my knitting blog here http://knittingguy.blogspot.com/2007/12/pattern-for-my-beanie.html and it's also posted on Ravelry under the pattern name Skullcap Beanie.

Excellent, Mason. I really love it that you feel the freedom to design and adapt on your own. Not that there is anything wrong with using an established motif, but it's like the difference between creating a painting of your own and painting by numbers. Though even established motifs and patterns can be adapted according to your own taste to result in something original and unique. Keep exploring and inspiring us all.
Thanks, I really enjoy
Thanks, I really enjoy trying to come up with something original and from myself as opposed to just following someone else's pattern. It just seems a lot more fun that way.

Thanks. Nah it's all acrylic. The base color is just Caron Simply Soft and the accent color is Vanna's Choice. All cheap stuff but that's what I can afford to play with.
