Christmas Sweater

I started this sweater right after Thanksgiving and finished seaming it Christmas morning at 1:05 AM. It's made of Berroco's Ultra Alpaca in "Henna" and the pattern is also Berroco and is called "Arthur". It alternates basic stockinette stitch with reverse stockinette on the top half and the sleeves, with a simple garter/stockinette pattern of 5 stripes up the middle that reverses in the center. I had to drop down 2 needle sizes when I made the gauge swatch, using Knit Picks interchangeable size 4 for ribbing and size 6 for the body and sleeves. I also had to add 2 inches length to the sleeves to fit my long arms. I enjoyed this project and the sweater is so soft and warm. It's a pity I can't wear it much down here in Florida! I'll keep it for my holiday visits up north, LOL.

I am making a cardigan with it from a vintage pattern and it is really wonderful to knit with. The sweater looks great. Color is good on you. Pity you can only wear it on vacations north.

Beautiful job- perfect fit

Beautiful job- perfect fit and drape. Is the yarn pure alpaca? How is it to knit with? If you can, please post some close ups of the patterning.

Albert (and all my good

Albert (and all my good knitting friends here) thanks so much for the kind words! The yarn is a 50/50 alpaca and wool blend (light weight) that is very soft and easy to work with. The pattern called for 10 skeins but I had 2 full and 1 partial left over, so I think I will make a matching cabled scarf for next winter. I added some pictures to the "Sweaters" page to show the detail also. I got a new digital camera for Xmas and it takes much better pictures than my old one! Cheers and Happy New Year to all!

Very nice! That was quick, I don't think I could make one that fast. I just ordered the yarn for Brookly Tweed's Cobblestone. This will be the first sweater I have made in 20+ years.
