Some shawls take only about 4 oz - some take almost a lb - so I would say 53 lbs = roughly 106 shawls.
That should keep me occupied for a while.

I've used up more of the 30
I've used up more of the 30 year's stash I inherited from a relative then I thought I could in about 18 months -- (not that it's gone - but I've used a lot of it up) so I'm confident I'll get good use out of the stash I'm buying.
