I just tried to access MenKnit.net and holymoly, what the hell happened there??? Hostile take over by adbots or what? Any one have the story?? Do tell.

Their domain lapsed and that is probably the place holder. When a domain name lapse the company that owns it puts a search/ad page up that has relevant links to what was in that space before.

from the looks of it they've let their domain name lapse and it got bought up by one of the adbot companyhies.
