Help with Fingerless Mitts

Keefhalek's picture

Hey all...
I'm working on "Lazychick's Cabled Fingerless Mitts", a pattern I bought at my LYS and I have a question. For the Gusset it says:

Continuing with cable pattern, work to 4 sts before end, place marker, make 1, k4.(5 gusset sts.)
Round 1: Work one rnd in pattern without increasing.
Round 2: Work around to marker, slip marker, M1, knit to end. Alternate between two rounds, increasing every other round until you have a total of 11 gusset sts. Work 5 rounds even.

K, I'm clear on most of it but I don't know what it means at the very end when it says, "Work 5 rounds even".

Any ideas?

I'll post a pic of the WIP in a bit.

Thanks
Curtis

I would read that to mean

I would read that to mean "knit for five rounds without increasing or decreasing any more stitches" but I'm not sure (without seeing the rest of the pattern) if you are working in pattern stitch or just plain knitting in the round. The gussets are inserted to allow the fabric to stretch and/or to strengthen that area but they should continue the original pattern. Don't you wish you could email the authors of patterns sometimes for clarification? LOL I sure do!

Make sure you post of pic of the finished project -- I'd love to see them. Good luck!
