WIP - 'Spanish Armada' shawl

Remember the Spanish square Doily I test knit a while back? Well, I've started it for real this time - as the center of the 'Spanish Armada'.

I'm using my favorite size needle for lace (US 8's) with a nice lace-weight alpaca in 'vermilion' - a very lightly variagated red.

Hopefully over Thanksgiving I will be able to knit enough to post the first 100 or so rows of instructions.

and I've knit through row 120; written thorugh row 130 something and charted through row 128 - I think....SEVEN pages of charts and instructions! YEESH.
MMario - ambiguity is cultivated, it doesn't happen in a vacuum!

What kind of alpaca are you

What kind of alpaca are you using (brand)? Definitely looking forward to seeing the beginning of your shawl.

something I bought from someone else's stash a couple years ago. I have no recollection of what brand it is.

I was really impressed with

I was really impressed with the test piece, and I'm looking forward to seeing the completed shawl - even though I'll feel totally inadequate. However a couple of days ago I was brave enough to try your Faux Spanish Lace, and after a couple of false starts because I couldn't get the tension of the 'holes' right I'm now happily working away on it and pleased with the effect so far.
