So after a bit of practice with stranding, I cast on yarn for a hat and went at it. I'm not sure what I'm going to do past this point in the pattern since I don't actually have a pattern, but it's been loads of fun. Don't know if I should just got back to solid tan and finish up the top of the hat. Is it possible to continue working with a pattern (like the greek key or another fair isle pattern) while decreasing and finishing up the crown?

I am glad you took the plunge. We should all venture out into unknown areas and learn something new that gives us satisfaction and a thrill to see. I really like looking at your hat - you are going to love wearing it.

Hi Ron,
Thanks. I'm afraid it's about 8 to 12 stitches too small!! I didn't know if it was going to fit or not, so I probably should've cast on 102 or 108 stitches instead of the 96 I did for this one. It did end up really well I think. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'll just have to try again. This one will make a nice gift or perhaps something I can sell at a crafts fair during the holidays.
