I found this simple pattern

I found this simple pattern after a LONG search myself. If you ignore the hideous metallic-striped acrylic yarn it's not so bad. I made mine in wool on size 6 bamboo DP needles in 2 evenings. Now that I'm familiar with the pattern I will experiment with something more exotic. Happy Holidays!

I can't get my iPhoto pics to load in my comments but you can see my stocking in the "Things For The Home" gallery. Happy knitting Piper and good luck!

knittingpatterncentral.com has about a dozen choices for Christmas Stockings.

If nothing there catches your fancy, then basically a christmas stocking is simply: Take any sock pattern and Supersize it. This can be done by using larger needles, thicker yarn and more stitches per round (with the appropriate increase in the number of rounds and heel flap/toe stitches too). Use wool if you want to felt the results, which will shrink it somewhat from its just-off-the-needles size.
