It looks very nice, I agree with everyone about the mistakes. You have to practice and get experience, as you get experience things get better. I like the color as it does not take away from the cables, your selection was very clever.
Don't be too hard on yourself about mistakes... I think the most important thing to note is your progress. You made a beautiful scarf! I can't wait to see how the hat turns out!
Thanks. I didn't actually start progressing until I stopped worrying so much about mistakes. Unless I catch it right away (I'm getting better about that) or it's just a horribly obvious one, I just call it a design feature and keep going.
I finally learned how to 'read' my knitting (it just came to all of a sudden) which has really cut down on the mistakes.

syddenly you don't feel as lost and confused about what you're doing...
That looks great, I really like the color way; it makes me think of New Hampshire around this time with all the leaves changing and the tourists on the Kankamangus Highway.
The hat is a snap, I have made two so far and it looks like they will be my go to gift this season. Especially after I found Donegal Tweed at a yarn store for seven dollars a skein.

Looks great! The variagation is slow enough to let the cables show - yet it's not "just" a cabled scarf. Good Job!

Thanks, I kinda had fall colors in mind when I selected the yarn.
I'm going to be using Silver's Palindrome for the hat using the same yarn as the scarf.
