Elizabeth Zimmerman's Contrarian Directions

Eikon's picture

I have knit and ripped out the neck on my saddle shouldered seamless sweater three times now. The back is just far too high. It makes an unsightly bulge. Instructions for making a collar would be most appreciated as I've lost faith in this particular part of the pattern.

Hey Eikon, I knit this

Hey Eikon,

I knit this sweater not too long ago, in fact I'm just doing some finishing on it right now. I decided to opt for two sets of short rows instead of the back of neck shaping that she suggests. It raises the back a wee little bit but not too much. It's nice. After that, I switched to a smaller needle and decreased by about 20 stitches for the collar. You may need to decrease more or less, depending on your neck and how you like your collar's to fit.
