Faux Spanish Lace

This is a relatively simple lace pattern I have suggested to several people. It makes a triangular shawl.

Cast on 3. knit back.
All even rows are knit.

Setup Rows:

1) k1, YO, k1, YO, k1
3) k1, YO, k3, YO, k1
5) k3, YO, k1, YO, k3

This gives you three border stitches on either side which will always be knit.

7) k3, YO, knit until 3 stitches remain, YO, k3
9) k3, YO, k1, YO,*S2kp; YO, k1, YO; repeat from * until 3 stitches remain, k3

repeat rows 7 through 10 until "large enough". Knit 4 rows and bind off loosely.

I've been working on this

I've been working on this shawl...don't have a picture yet, but I will.

I'm going to make it into a prayer shawl -- made from cotton. There are a couple of charities that send prayer shawls to people that use them in time of grief and need...

So, this should be a nice thing to do...

...and it's so easy to work up, too.

I'll send a picture when I'm done my first one.

I've been making one too and

I've been making one too and it's beautiful so far but there's probably just as many curses knit (or tinked) into mine as there are prayers! I've never knit anything like this before but I can see how it might get addicting!

As an English person I find

As an English person I find some instructions rather different - so please forgive my ignorance when I say what is *S2kp*?

Much prefer the new pic - much more 16th century.

Slip 2 stitches as if to knit two together, knit 1, pass slipped stitches over the one just knit.

I don't think I do, to tell

I don't think I do, to tell you the truth - the last two I did both got given away within minutes of being finished.

It's a pretty standard openwork stitch.
