Scarf weight?

Andy's picture

Not TOO heavy, I know, but how heavy can a scarf comfortably be? My recent WIP is turning out to weigh a little more than most, so I was wondering if anyone can put a weight on "comfortable" and "uncomfortable" that doesn't equate to how long is a piece of string.

Andy I like my scarves substantially heavy or rather thick, I say I like them to be a pound or less than two, but if it is for my mother I will say I have to make something in lace or fingering weight. If it is a pound or more it is a heavy scarf. I say 8 to 12 ounces or 200 to 300 grams tops!

I'm afraid the answer is

I'm afraid the answer is akin to how long is a piece of string, or even worse, "Why is a duck?"

It all depends on who is wearing it and why they are wearing it and personal preferences. Add in that it could depend on the weather...

and the question becomes more "How long is a piece of eleastic string?"

MMario - Can anybody tell me what year it is?

I might think it depends on

I might think it depends on the recipient. Is it for someone especially, or is it for yourself? I think it might also depend on its usage. Is it for style or is it for warmth?
