Help Me Design A Scarf

madhatter7zero's picture

Wanna help me design a crazy stripe scarf? All you have to do is visit this page: http://www.sleepyroot.com/sitepages/designascarf.php and cast your vote for what color I should start with and how many rows of that color I should knit to start this new scarf.

It is going to be a simple garter stitch scarf and the ends will be left unwoven for fringe along the edges. I think this is going to be a fun project so head on over to cast your votes.

Are you aware that the poll

Are you aware that the poll allows you to vote multiple times? Or was that by design?

this takes a left turn from what you're suggesting, but you can go to:

and the program generates random striping for you using the colors you select :)

Well I thought it would be

Well I thought it would be really interesting to see what would come out of this. I've been working on some hats and have been using dice to determine which colors to use and how many rows to do on each color. The hats are coming out really cool and that is how I got the idea to do the polls and let people decide what colors to use and so forth. You are correct that it is going to be a long project by getting votes between each color change but that's ok. I think it will be slow at first but then once I start getting pictures up of the projects progress I think more people will catch on and the votes will come a lot quicker. I iniatally set out to wait until 1,000 votes had been cast but I think I'll cut that number down to 500 just to get the project going a little quicker. I'm really excited about this.... and I think it'll make a great sale item once it's finished..... that is if it doesn't come out ugly lol. In the meantime I've got a hat to finish so I'm outta here. Later!

I think I might take the top

I think I might take the top five choices each of two or three polls and then repeat for the length of the scarf; but I'm the impatiant sort.

or work the results of the pool, work them in reverse, etc.

Interesting idea... I've

Interesting idea... I've never heard of "knitting by committee" before. If you are getting votes between every color change, I think this project is going to take you quite awhile to finish, but it should be interesting to see what sort of monstrosity results.
