WIP - Irish Hiking Scarf

I've started the Irish Hiking Scarf. It's my first attempt at doing cables and I have to say that cables are very cool. They're much easier than I had imagined they would be.

I'm using Caron Simply Soft Shadows yarn and am liking the effect so far.

Great looking scarf. Cables look intimidating but once you do them, I found it became quite easy and adds a great look to a project. Just have to remember that they use a bit more yarn so I have to take that into consideration when deciding how much yardage to get. Keep it up, the stitches look very even - looks like you are hooked.

Thanks. I think that cables can make a pretty simple project look really complicated. A nice little 'secret weapon' lol

Obviously, you're a natural knitter! You've come a long way since you first duked it out with that bleeding scarf that caused you so much grief. I think the work you're doing is wonderful.

Thanks. I think doing socks for a while helped a lot. I've been doing them top down but am getting ready to attempt two toe up socks at once.

Yes, cables are very easy to do, actually. Once you get into them, there is a nice rhythm to it and it's so great to see how the texture shows up.

You have a really cool colourway happening there! Very nice!

That looks really nice. I was surprised at how easy cables could be when I first played around with them. The yarn is fantastic and lends itself to that scarf nicely. Where did you find the pattern?
