Socks Two at once!

Hi Men,

How's everybody doing. I'm a manic sock knitter, and have recently, after having knitted about 80 pairs of socks on 4 DPNS have discovered the "Majick Loop" method using a 100cm long 2.5mm circular needle.

After I'd knitted a couple of pairs on this loop I thought why not knit them both at the same time, just like sleeves, they'll be the same length, without having to bother to count. At the end of the process I'll have a pair of socks rather than being half way through the task. It's just brilliant, firstly Addi Turbo needles are indeed fast to knit on, plus sts. don't come off the needles in my bag.

The second sock has to be cast on DPNS THEN TRANSFERRED TO CIRC NEEDLE at the middle of the 1st round.

In this picture of cabled, re-inforced heel & toe socks, a pattern I'm designing for sale at the shop Loop, where I work in London, I used Colinette, Superwash Merino, 4 ply sock yarn, Colours Lapiz & Lagoon.

God Bless,
Happy knitting Men

so exactly how do you do

so exactly how do you do this. I guess 47 in circulars are about 100 cm. I think that's the longest that I have. You just have both hanging. You work on one, then slide it down, and do the same on the one hanging? I guess you are always sure they would be exactly the same. I've heard of knitting one sock inside the other on dpn's but not really seen someone do two at a time on the same circular. Maybe expand on your method a bit. I'm anxious to try. I love the magic loop and find its definitely the fastest for socks.

It can also be done on 2 -

It can also be done on 2 - 24" circulars. Cat Bordhi shows how in her book "Socks Soar on Two Circular Needles". You just need to adapt the method so that you're doing both socks at the same time. The only difficult part is the cast-on of the second sock (I only know the cuff-down method). I like the 2 circ's method better here than the long (60") circ magic loop because I don't have all the excess cable coiling in on itself. But, you do have to be careful to knit always on the correct needle! All my socks were made using this technique and I love it.

I'm still working on the 2

I'm still working on the 2 circs technique. As far as the problem of knittig on the wrong needle goes, I've conquered that little problem by using one metal needle and one wooden needle. I'm finishing up my 1st sock on 2 circs, then of course I have to do the other one, but after this pair is done I'm going to try two socks at once. I'll let you know how it goes. So far the 2 circs/one sock is going great.

Addi Turbos used to come in

Addi Turbos used to come in gold plate and so I have some gold and some nickle coloured turbos in the smaller sizes. I have also used red nail polish and this has worked nicely.
