Hi all, here's a little update from my Lace Project. It's slow going but I'm liking the results. I'll either be totally bald or completely gray haired by the time it's finished.
It looks nice! I assume patience then is a virtue for knitting lace. I have in mind to start the Swallow-Tail Shawl from Interweave Knits soon. Is there any advice you'd hand out to a guy who is ready to start his first attempt at lace?
I'm not the best person to ask for advice, since this is my first lace project. But I will say, take your time, it can be a bit slow going at the beginning, but once you get into the rhythm of it, it does pick up a little.
Good luck on the Swallow-Tail...post some progress pics
From what I can see it looks good. Fortunately I'm already bald so my lace projects can't be blamed for that, otherwise I agree with you ;-) Perhaps another progress photo?
Not surprised that you can't tell what it is, my camera leaves a lot to be desired. It's eventually going to be a wrap/shawl for my mother. I hope to have it complete by Mothers Day. The pattern is Spider Lace available here: http://www.knitting-and.com/homework/spider-patterns.htm
I just finished knitting a test swatch of a very, very similar lace stitch from the same pattern site:
