A Scarf Progress Pic

The disaster I laughingly refer to as a scarf has reached the 36" mark. It's coming along slowly as I can only work on it a little here and there as I find the time. I thought I'd post a pic of it at this stage to give you guys a good chuckle.

Your red scarf looks better than my red scarf! I chalk it up to a learning experience and something to use as a gauge to show my improvement. Keep knitting!

That picture reminds me of a

That picture reminds me of a story my friend Sandy told me. He's a cross Canadian trucker, and if you've ever driven on the Trans-Canadian highway, you KNOW there are long straight stretches that just go on FOREVER. He took up knitting to pass the time, and would balance his needles ontop of the steering wheel for those hours where he nary saw another vehicle. One fine spring day he was tooling along with the window open, working away, and his foot must have "gotten a bit heavy". Next think he knows, there is a cop on a bike roaring along side of him yelling something. Realizing that something was wrong, he puts down his knitting and comes to a stop at the side of the road. The cop comes charging up and says, "What's the matter with you?! I've been yelling "PULL-OVER" for the last mile! Sandy looks down at his knitting, looks over at the cop, and says, "But it's not a pullover: It's a cardigan."

Not tonight honey: I'm knitting...

It's hard to see much in

It's hard to see much in that little tiny thumbnail pic, but it seems to be coming out quite well. I think you are doing much better now than when you first started. If you really wanted, you COULD cut off the first few inches, and just keep on going! Oh, yah, right -- like you are looking forward to doing another 200 extra stitches! It's all good practice! LOL

Mason - now is the time to acquaint you with one of the rules I live by.

Known to some as the "galloping horse" rule - and to others as the "10 foot" rule, it goes sowewhat like this:

If it isn't noticiable from a galloping horse (10 feet) don't fix it.

On the other hand - I know how my own mistakes appear to have spotlights focused on them and signs blazing in neon saying:

ERROR! ERROR!!

so I can sympathize.

MMario - I don't live in the 21st Century - but I sometimes play a character who does.

Thanks MMario. I really am kinda proud of it. But if we couldn't laugh at ourselves once in a while the world would be far too serious and I try to never take myself too seriously. :D

I think it looks great! No

I think it looks great! No chuckling here - just a big wide grin when I think about all the difficulties you had initially - and now, look at the great scarf! Don't discount those stitches you do in just spare moments as they quickly count-up and before you know it you have a finished piece of knitting! I accomplish more in my spare moments than in my prolonged periods of concentrated knitting. Keep up the good work!

My knitting is totally tubular!

While it's loaded with mistakes, especially in the first several inches, I am still kinda proud of it as it's my first project. I'll be keeping it just to remind me of the learning and improvement I did as the piece progressed.

I still think it's pretty horrible though LOL
