Happy New Year!!

gaynnyc's picture

Hi guys,

Just wanted to get a head start on wishing everyone a Happy New Year, and to thank everyone who's made me feel so welcome here.

I'll be spending a quiet night here in NYC working on another sweater (top down, in the round), I cast on yesterday and have about 10 more rows until I finish up the raglan and get to the body...go me! It's plain ole black..do you believe it...here I am a gay man in NYC and have never owned a plain black sweater? It's a nice soft merino so it's a comforting knit. If I get bored I'll switch to my camouflage socks...

Hope your New Year is filled with all things good...and that your stash is always full.

Best,
Tom

What pattern are you working

What pattern are you working from? I was looking for a top down cardigan or pullover that would fit a man with a 50 inch chest (finished size=54) so I wouldn't have to design it myself.... All the patterns I see are for skeeeeeeeennnnnnnyyyyyyy guys.

Not tonight honey: I'm knitting...

Hey Bob, I'm working from a

Hey Bob,

I'm working from a basic pattern found here:

http://www.knittingfool.com/

It's a calculator based on the percentage system. You just plug in the gauge from your swatch and it will calculate the number of stitches to cast on...blah..blah...blah. You do have to read the pattern over before you start just to make sure that it makes sense...for instance it told me to cast on 75 stitches for the neckband...and then do a k2p2 rib...of course that wouldn't come out evenly...so I added an extra stitch. I'm sure with your experience you won't have any problems with the pattern.

Damn..a 50 inch chest!!! You're fingers will be bleeding by the time you finish that sucker.

Hope this helps.
