Running out of Yarn

So, I finally got this cashmere blend, basket-weave scarf looking right...and I came to the end of my ball. A trip to the store I bought it from proved fruitless...they were out. So is the manufacturer. "Out of stock" on their website. I sent an email asking for an ETA on more, but no answer so far. My mom may end up with a differnt color scarf...

could you rip out some and

could you rip out some and do a contrasting color for part of the scarf, then complete it with a little more of the original color? sometimes working "as you go" can yield the best results! I'll see if I can find any of the yarn at my LYS as well...

do you know how much you need if any of us can find it?

Just one ball. It takes two total (no pun intended), which I had, but majorly screwed up on my first try, so gave what was done to my artist partner for one of his projects.
