Looking for a cool pattern for mittens, fingerless or not, to make as a xmas gift. I'm not liking much of what I am finding so far on the net.

Suggestions?

I'm making two pairs of fingerless gloves right now. The absolute best resource I've found for them is a book called The Knitter's Handy Book of Patterns by Ann Budd. They're simple, plain, easy to follow and each pattern has a grid for different sizes and guages. It's an awesome book.

Go to Knitty.com and go to tha arcive section at the top. Look for the summer 06 issue, several patterns there. Was thinking about the Knuckles pair myself.

You didn't say whether you prefer straight needles and sew up the edge or DPs and pick up the thumb after.

I did a pair of gauntlet cuff mittens that would fit a man quite nicely. I'm sorry I can't be of much help providing the pattern right now as I am at work, but when I get home tonight I will find it and scan it for you.
