Basic Sock Class

Men
Saturday I will be taking my first basic sock class. I have a hunch that I might be the only male there. I am not worried. I spoke with the teacher and she is very supportive. It will be a small class of perhaps 8. It is being held at the yarn shop I do most of my shopping at.
Ron in Maine I am excited that the socks are done. I hope I can do the same. I am getting a bit tired of doing caps scarves etc. I think too family and friends are all ready for something new besides scarves. So ready to start out. I did manage to practice a bit with the needles. We are using size 1 even thought I have very small hands it seems easy enough to manipulate them. The yarn is a alpaca mix with silk and nylon. (have become addicted to alpaca.) So looking forward to it. Its this Sat ! More latter as i tackle this new found excitement

I hope you have a wonderful time of it tomorrow. Socks though not one of my favorite things to knit teach you an amazing amount about garment shaping in a wonderfully small and easily portable package. You'll learn loads and I hope make new friends in your local knitting community.

Enjoy socks and remember,

Enjoy socks and remember, they really aren't that hard to knit. I enjoy taking them for travel projects [along with dishcloths] and knit on them nearly all the time anyhow.

There's something very comforting about knitting and wearing wool socks.
I'm sure you'll have a great time in the class...and it will change your knitting habits. Socks are a great carry along project.

Represent us well, David! Be fearless, ask questions, fill the room with testosterone and joy to be with other fiberphiles, kick ass and take names.

You will love it. Hand knit socks are incredibly luxurious and surprisingly simple...

Also, I believe that all the people in the room chose to be there so you will make seven new friends.

Good luck with your sock

Good luck with your sock class. Socks are fun and quick to knit. Glad you have found a supportive LYS. Sadly my LYS is NOT supportive of male knitters.

Well the owner give the appearance you have to remember they are in the business and to loose a customer or risk loosing one isn't cool. I'm very shrewd when it comes to acceptance. In time it will all come out in the wash in the end. But I am not letting that deter me from the class. I always find someone to make a connection with one way or the other.

It's too bad your LYS doesn't support you! I get support from all over. Unfortunately, I don't know any other male knitters. I'd like to start a group.
