Queen Anne's Lace Shawl

I am on my third time 'round on this shawl - the first was an experiment to see if I could do it; the second was an attempt to figure out what I did on the first one (which I botched - though the result was nice) - see Thread on another forum for lots of babble regarding both).

This third atempt got side-tracked as well - it is pretty similar, but not the same. I need a secretary!

There are links to pictures of both the first and second attempt on the other forum. Hopefully posting this here will make me get off my duff and take a picture of the current incarnation.

ahhhhh...the report is the bride opened the shawl at her shower - and didn't take it off the entire evening!!!! Huzzah! Gotta love successful giving of knits.

After several attempts I got

After several attempts I got a photo file attached to this posting. This is the latest incarnation of the Queen Anne's Lace Shawl - it took a few yards over two skeins of Knitpick 'Paint your own' laceweight.***

if you check the photos in the other thread you'll see some difference - I've got to get this nailed down- I have someone who wants to knit it!

***I stand corredcted - I've since recalled that the first "skein" was actually only half a skein left from another project.

now that comment about needing a secretary has some deep resonance with me. LOL. sadly, i've yet to find one who'll even consider foot rubs as a natural part of his secretarily duties and will except payment in sweet potato samosas and chocalate-fig-marsala pie.

I give a lot of shawls away

I give a lot of shawls away to people - many use them as table toppers when they are not wearing them; some use them as wall hangings, one uses her stole as a curtain on her door.

The lace is certainly beautiful. I congratulate you. Seeing the picture made me realise that a shawl could be used as a table cloth or the other way round. My mother always made shawls round but so many today are triangular. Again, I salute your talents.

many of the triangular ones can be easily knit as a swuare as well.

I tend to do triangular in heavier yarns , the circular and square in lighter yarns.
