I often amaze the kids in my school by eating cup-o-noodles with chopsticks at lunch. Strangely, I find it much easier to eat noodles with chopsticks than with a fork. My old faithful collapsible chopsticks finally failed on me a couple of weeks ago, so I visited eBay and found some lovely steel chopsticks that work a treat. They don't pull in two like the collapsible ones, but fortunately, they fit in my lunch bag just fine anyway.
I have thought a time or two about trying to knit with them. Might be a great backup for knitting on airplanes. If they take your needles, just use chopsticks.
