Update: Site Maintenance

UPDATE - I'm done for the day, but more updates will be happening through the week. Here are the known issues:
- Image Galleries are currently disabled, though can you still attach images to your posts.
- Private Messages are in the database, but not being displayed. I'm working on it!
- Some areas of look/feel are still in flux, but most should be subtle.

Please reply to this thread if you notice anything else that's broken and I'll take a look. Thanks for your patience and please let me know if I can be of any help!

I'll be taking the site offline for a couple of hours tonight to do some work on the server. I'm hoping to start around 5:00PM CDT. Thanks for your patience and wish me luck! :)

Darrel, you do an amazing job

Darrel, you do an amazing job maintaining this Web site. My son is a Web developer/designer/programmer here in Chicago, and he and I discuss many issues with coding a site and such, so I know it's a difficult, and sometimes daunting, task. You are a good man to do this and still not charge anyone for using the site. It is a gift beyond the norm and very appreciated.

...it's been a while since I've made a donation...and I LOVE this site!
There's a donation button over on the left side of the page...we should ALL be donating...Darryl is a hard working young man...not a corporation...and runs this whole site by himself!

and while we're on the subject...

just noticed something, not sure if it's new or from the latest update, but when i click on a link in someone's text or profile, it always returns a 404 error because the pathway keeps the MWK URL at the beginning.

as in"http://www.menwhoknit.com/community/www.carpeopen.blogspot.com"

That happens when folks don't put the http:// in front of it. I can likely make those fields have a default value of http:// pretty easily!

There aren't many changes in the way things work, so the basics are still there. Don't worry! And all your user profile information should still be there. Other than the image gallery being hidden, this should all be a non-destructive process.
