Gloating...

Dear All,

Despite my other half moaning amount the amounts of wool secreted around the house and in the loft, and despite my resolution not to buy any more wool until I've made some attempt to use up what I've got, Al returned from a recent trip to Norway with a bag of beautiful Norwegian alpacca - which I share with you for no other reason than general gloating.... and for any ideas of what I could knit with it. It's fine (4 ply) and I fancy some 2 colourwork to celebrate it's Norwegian origins.

Hope you're all doing well

David

Oh you lucky man...I got a rather nice sweater pattarn off Garnstudio.com in alpaca and it is a wonderfully light but warm sweater and garn studio are noted for there colour work patterns and best of all they are all free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have spun and knit a fair

I have spun and knit a fair amount of alpaca yarn and like the fiber a lot. It IS heavier than wool and does tend to grow in length---sometimes alarmingly so. For me, I liked it for scarves and afghans. My one and only pair of alpaca socks were so HOT I could not wear them.

Awww David! That was SO sweet of your partner! It reminds me of a commercial several years ago in the states about a young teacher and her spouse sitting at their dining table mulling over bills and her husband's discontent with her wanting to buy some extra supplies for her classroom. In the next scene they surprisingly run into each other at the store's check out line each buying the supplies she wanted; gets me every frickin' time!! The yarn is BEAUTIFUL and have fun deciding what to knit. I'm fond of the direction of color work.

I remember that commercial! Loved it!
...and it got me to donate some art supplies to a teacher friend...
Luckily, while I was teaching, we had budgets...now everything has been cut...

Very lovely yarn. Half of the fun of new yarn is deciding what to make with it...I always sit with the new stuff and let it tell me what it would like to be. LOL -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.
