I finally got my camera back, so I was able to take some better shots of the Aeolian Shawl I knit. I used a merino lace weight from Knit Picks called Shadow in the Oregon Coast colorway. I knit it with a size US 5 (3.75mm) addi lace circular needle and used 3mm round, ivory pearlized beads. I used 7 stitch nupps (as opposed to 9) in order to conserve yarn. I literally had 4 inches of yarn left over after the bind off! I knit the shawlette size as written using 440yds/50 grams. This was one of the best written patterns I've ever knit from and was a fairly quick knit. It's available, free, from Knitty.com.

Thanks Tom! I just gave it to her tonight and she wept...it was truly one of the nicest reactions I've ever received from a recipient of my knitting (not because she wept, but because of the sheer joy on her face). She's also a knitter and really aided me in getting through Mario's QAL--my first lace project. She is so precious to both Suki and me.

Thanks so much Ron! It is a gift for my wonderful neighbor. She often looks in on Suki when I'm tied up at the hospital. This shawl is a joy to knit, but I have to admit that the blocking is a bit of a bugger!

That is a beautiful piece of work. And you did a wonderful job blocking it. I imagine it is a gift and what a lucky soul that receives it. Thanks for the stats and also for recommending it. It is truly art.
