Hello all! I've finally finished the baby blanket. Well, I haven't woven in the ends yet, but I'm posting photos anyway. It will be all ready for my niece, Lorelei, when she is born in September. I can't wait to give it to my sister when I come back to Texas in a few weeks.
As soon as I finished the blanket I started my first sock on a set of size 3 dpns the next day. I'll see how that goes. As for other news, Sr. Theresa Ann and I have nearly finished the habit we started working on in April. All I need to do is hem the sleeves and sew on two patch pockets.
Well that's about all. Enjoy the photos.
Ian

Great job! This could get really tedious... so repetitive! But there is a bit of attention required, so maybe that kept the interest going as well. One thing for sure -- you could sure use this for contemplative work! There is the comfort of the sameness and the sure even rhythm of the pattern. And that is what makes it such a great piece of work.

That is really a nice design and color. You did a very good job. I am sure your sister and the baby will love it. Where did you get the pattern ?

I got the pattern from a very inexpensive, nondescript little book found at Wal-mart. It had all these different stitch patterns in it like "snowflakes", "little shells", "little fountains", "Horseshoes", etc. This one was called "lace and fans", and in the back of the booklet it had a whole pattern for the baby blanket.
I really like the blanket -

Lovely blanket Ian. Do you mind me asking the name of the pattern or is it your own design?

The pattern was called "lace and fans" in the book that I got it from. I can't take credit for the design. Maybe one day I'll design something of my own. Much later in the future, I'm sure.
