Hey guys-!
In addition to a lot of other less interesting projects, vests, scarfs, etc. I finally finished the bird afghan. It's based/inspired by http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/freeform-crochet-blanket and I LOVED this project! The ground is Wool-Ease (not my favorite yarn, but not too bad when you need LOTS if it!) The birds are whatever scraps I could find, with a few acrylics and blends (purchased) thrown in.
Bradley (aka KSMARGUY) was (as usual) WONDERFULLY supportive of this endevour, running to Michael's every few days to use coupons to keep up the yarn supply... So big kudos to the husband!
We're starting a new joint venture tonight.... A free-form jungle animals afghan... We'll keep you updated.
Peace and blessings to all!

A most intriguing bit of artistry. Are the birds a solid bit of crochet or are they appliqued on top of blocks? I guess I should examine the picture carefully. Looking forward to seeing the next one. [edit] Now I get it. Most definitely interesting. Reminds me of tapestry weaving where you do the main pieces and then fill in the background. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.
