I just started knitting and I found and easy pattern for a sleeveless V-neck sweater. I have to get a new set of needles, and I'm reading old blogs about needle recommendations. I don't want to have to get a new set for every project. Excited!
What I've learned about sweater knitting by many of these experienced men here is guage, guage and check your guage. I love knitting sweaters and want to become as perfect as I am possible.
Yah, I think I just have to try different tools and see what feels right. I like these carved single point needles...they look pretty, but can you even knit a man's sweater on 14" single point needles? I've read that it gets heavy with the work gathering on one side, yet still I like the sexy grandma look to them.
You may have to buy several different kinds to determine which you like best. I have some favorite needles that I bought at an estate sale---they are so old that they are not even manufactured any more, but they still knit just fine. for modern needles, Addi's are good. Bamboo needles are also good---I like those especially for socks. I am sort of the opinion that you can't have too many needles---Just In Case.
