For one night, we were the majority!

Last night was knit night at Borders. I'm pretty used to being the token male in knitting circles, but recently there's been another guy. Last night he did not come in, but he sent two friends, who showed up with needles and yarn in hand, wanting to learn to knit. I noticed that a son of one of our regular women was not just reading and hanging out; he also was knitting! So even with being down a guy, we had four men knitting all evening. Only four ladies came this week to knit, so for one night, we held the majority, and it felt great.

I also thought it was incredible that I had brought fat needles and yarn with me, as I've been trying to work out my grafting monster, and needed a visual to break it down. The needles and yarn turned out to be really handy for the teaching side of things. Woot!

A week later... the guys

A week later... the guys didn't show up tonight, but another guy came with his sister, and I'm glad I came prepared. I didn't ask, just told him he was going to knit, and gave him my huge needles and yarn, and he made his first swatch. Woo-hoo! Another notch for the belt.

I told them about MWK,

I told them about MWK, though I understand it can take a person a while to embrace knitting enough to get involved in a community. They did say they plan to come back, so that's a start!
