Sweater Vest

Hi guys,

I finished this a while ago but am just now getting around to posting pictures. I started this vest in October and my goal was to have this finished in time to wear to Thanksgiving dinner. I made it with an hour to spare. Sort of. I wore it even though ends weren’t all woven in, and even though I had had a major brain fart and finished off the arm and neck openings in 2x2 ribbing instead of the 1x1 ribbing called for in the pattern, and that I had used at the waist. I realized this before dinner, but not in time to rip, correct and wear. Hence, the unwoven ends (I knew I’d be re-working those sections). It was truly done a week later.

I really liked doing a vest. Vests go much faster than sweaters. Probably has something to do with the lack of sleeves.
This color pattern gives you a lot of bang for your buck. It’s very easy (only one strand per row), but it gives you an elaborate, almost houndstooth result.

The pattern is the Retro Vest in Kristin Spurkland's book "The Knitting Man(ual)" and I used Mission Falls 1824 Wool on US 9 needles. If you're interested, there are more details on Ravelry:

Best,
Ray
