I don't like to sew enough

I don't like to sew enough to take on a quilt, but I love a well made quilt, and this one is beautiful.

Back in my sewing days, I,

Back in my sewing days, I, too, made a quilt. My maternal grandmother was always making quilts, so I thought I knew what I was doing. I used fairly big blocks and did an easy 4 block block. Of course I had to stitch everything by hand---seems like I stitched for months and months and months----I did tie it instead of quilting it. Some day, I will make another and to that end have been saving the sleeves and backs from all of my old shirts-----Happy to see that you also used shirts. Happy that so many knitters are also quilters----

yep, most of the fabrics are old shirts. The navy blue and the main white/blue check is from a fabric store, i just needed them to tie the whole thing together. All the shirts were 100% cotton, and the shirts were well worn so it is super soft :-)

Looking good....As a fellow

Looking good....As a fellow quilter myself, I know how much time can go into making one. I actually find what takes the longest is cutting out the pieces accurately. That's why I love making anything that can be rotary cut and/or strip pieced. I'm in the process of piecing together a small quilt made from the "disappearing 9 patch" pattern...VERY easy to do! I will post a couple photos of the quilts I have in progress (this is also in addition to my afghan that i'm knitting!)

yeah, the cutting was the

yeah, the cutting was the most time consuming. But once thats done it was just a matter of sewing the strips together.

I made the pattern myself in photoshop. I think for my next one, i might get a patchwork book and start looking at some more complex challenging designs.

I hear you Ryan, and I cannot wait to see your quilt completed. And, I want to be the first one to know when you begin that completely hand-worked quilt. Oh, it is going to happen. You are a determined so-and-so. :-)
