I seem to have a hard time finding a cheap, acrylic, watchman's hat when winter starts to set in. I lose my hats a lot, hence the preference for inexpensive acrylic hats. Maybe I'm not shopping in the right places.
Now that I've mastered double pointed needles, I thought I take things into my own hands and knit my own hat for the winter. I bought some cheap Red Heart acrylic yarn at Fred Meyer and was on my way.
I forgot how difficult it was to work with black fiber. All my years of costuming came back to me and the frustrations I had whenever having to work with black fabric.
It's really hard to see what one is doing. One needs lots of light, preferably sunlight, which we have so little of in the PNW.
I'll be careful about using black again.
