Well, I've done it! I started a pair of socks.
I found a basic Man's sock pattern on Ravelry. It's a Red Cross pattern, and it looked pretty straightforward.
After some fishing, I stumbled on the Lion's Brand Yarn Channel on YouTube, where there is a very comprehensive and easy to follow video series on knitting socks, which covers all the basics, and can be used with just about any sock pattern.
I've just finished the ribbing on the first sock... I love circular knitting!

LOL, No I'm wasn't talking
LOL, No I'm wasn't talking about high heel shoes. Come to think about it, French High Heels do have a rounder back on the top portion of the heels. I think the following link will answer your question regarding french heels on socks. John

French heels? I've given up
French heels? I've given up on French anything. French fries, French dressing, French
vanilla ice cream.... Check out the ingredients - not ever a mention of tongue. Isn't that false advertising? So disappointing.....
The nice part about knitting
The nice part about knitting socks and experimenting with different heels and toes, is that once you understand the shaping of the heel and toe, and find different ways of accomplishing those shapes, you can easily design socks that custom fit your foot and leg.
I wholeheartedly second
I wholeheartedly second QueerJoe's comments...that is how I do all my own patterns. And you always seem to be finding new tips and techniques. Enjoy! -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

Stephouche, Do you socks
Stephouche, Do you socks have french heels? I have made about 6 pairs for myself and for gifts. I like making socks because it so portable and you can take it with you where ever you go. Don't forget to show us pictures.
