I work in a Veterinary office as a Technician and I see daily how the impact of losing a pet can be on a family. My own dog,Emmett, died last May and it the loss is still painful. You have my sympathy.
I'm so sorry for your loss Steve! I lost my Aussie, Ariel, a couple of years ago at the age of 14. I miss her every day! My prayers and thoughts are with you guys during this trying time!
We said goodbye to our dog Charlie two years ago, and I still tear up thinking about him. For what it's worth, the hurt will lessen, but the love never does.
Two years ago, my partner and I lost our dear sweet Rosie dog, who was with us for 10 years. The struggle before her passing, and the grief following was deep and profound. Our animal companions become our family members in every sense of the word, and their passing can leave an emptiness that is hard to fathom.
Within a very short time, an opportunity came along to rescue a dog from the local shelter. He was a special guy, in great need of a new home, and after some soul searching, we decided to go meet him. He immediately touched our hearts.
We adopted that dog, Champ, who we love and cherish today. He did not replace Rosie, but rather almost seemed to us a rebirth of her spirit.
I can truly relate to the pain that you're experiencing today. I hope that healing will come to you as you truly begin to know that your dear friend and family member is now at rest.
As far away as it seems today, my hope for you is that some day soon you might feel able to reach out once again to one of the many canine (or feline) souls who need to be rescued, and that the love you hold for Scout could once again be given to another who needs it deperately.
I am sorry to hear about your family's loss. It's very hard to lose our four legged companions. We are blessed to share their lives with them, and it's a very sad day when we have to say goodbye. My thoughts are with you.
I can still remember the awful day I lost my 'Spotty' when I was a teenager, but I can also remember his lovely personality and the comfort he always brought to me. My sympathy at this time.
You have my deepest sympathy. I still occasionally mourn my last cat, some 4 to 5 years later. However, fond memories help make it easier to bear. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.
I'm sorry to hear of your families loss. I always hate the days when you have to make such tough decisions, but I remember all the joy our companions bring to us at such times and am thankful that I have the opportunity to make such decisions for them.
My thoughts are with you. My dog is 10 and we just found out she has diabetes. At first we were afraid it was cushings disease, which would have meant putting her down. Just that close to losing her was tough, so I know how you must feel losing your companion.
