Deadlines....and missed deadlines...

MMario's picture

Some day, I swear, I will get "caught up" with every project I want to do. Right. sure!

My problem is I start *WAY* too many projects - I usually finish them, sooner or later, usually later. But sometimes a project has a "deadline" - sometimes crucial, sometimes not, sometimes crucial only to me.

Currently on the needles (if I haven't forgotten anything - and excluding most of the crochet stuff)

'Mystic Sea Music Stole' - crochet - no deadline as it will be auctioned for charity - whenever. it is a crochet lace edging widened and doubled to be a stole. The primary times I've worked on it have been at the Mystic Sea Music Festival - hence the name.

'Feather Fan and Vine Stole' - I will finish this - sometime. the third project I started after learning to purl, and my own design. I need to finish it just for completion.

'Catspaw Stole' - started in crochet - needs to be ripped out and redone in knit.

'anniversary Pi' - my variation on the Shetland Tea Shawl from GOL - done as the anniversary Pi for EZPI yahoo group. about 12 rows and edge to go. completed 10/18/06

'KYOAMPI #1' the "summer garden' mystery pi from EZPI yahoo group - at about the same stage as the anniversary pi. I WANTED to have this done by July - if I get it done by next July I will be happy - will go to cousin's daughter as a wedding gift (belated)

'Mystery Shawl #4' - Desert Sun - another yahooo KAL - have about 90 rows to go. no deadline.

'Mystery Shawl #2' - again from the yahoo kal - halfway through clue #2 of 5. Was suppossed to be done by Sept 2. Will probably substitute something else as a gift for friends wedding.

Mystery Stole #2 - 'Scheherazade' - I am partway through section 5 of 12. This will probably be done by the wedding in september and by default become their gift. completed 8/31/06

'Queen Anne's Lace' - I have the yarn wound! after only 8 months! Intended as a wedding gift for October of a psuedo-niece. (my own design - third time around and this time I SWEAR I'm writing it down!!!!) - CAST ON 9/8/o6 ~ 1/4 done by 9/11/08 COMPLETED 10/12/06

'Unvention Shawl' - in a pearl gray douceur et Soie - for a niece's wedding - completed 9/8/06 at 6:29:45 pm, Mississippi time, in the hotel lobby of the Best Western, Clinton, MS

Muffler - in blue alpaca - no deadline now as I missed the intended date - about 18 months ago - about 1/4 done

Peacock Tail shawl - from the doily pattern on Nurhanne's site. about 1/3 done - no deadline, now, since I missed the one a year ago.

'theadybear' - I think I have 4 rows of the ribbing knit. Must get back to this. It was suppossed to be done by October. fat chance.

'Insult Scarf" - illusion knitting in brown and white alpaca - with a favorite vulgar phrase of a friend knit into it. about a year overdue.

you don't want to know what's waiting to be cast on. really.

Christmas Stocking - cast on sept? - completed -10/31 - being felted.

Dang - I haven't been doing

Dang - I haven't been doing to well at finishing up the UFO's -- though I have made some progress - and completed a number of other projects since I posted this list - and a bunch of them have been done from stash...

at least I know where all the UFO's *are*; well - I think. haven't seen 'Desert Sun' in a couple months - but it *should* still be in the trunk of my car.

MMario - I don't live in the 21st Century - but I sometimes play a character who does.

Since I originally posted the list I have finished four five itemsfrom the list;

I am now working on the edge of the 'KYOAMPI #1, and have worked 107 of the 151 rows on Rose of England.

In addition I finished two other felted Christmas Stockings, Three different variations on the 'Progressive' shawl, a precursur to 'Helga'; 35 nose-warmers and 2 scarves.

But I've added to the WIPS:

Helga - a faroese style in my own design - approx 3/8's done. completed

a scarf based on Judy Gibson's "Shell and Cowrie bookmark.

Eunny Jang's 'Bayerische as kilt hose. - toes of both socks are done (doing them as toe up)

Saxon Braid scarf. - about 1/5th done

Yet another Mystery Shawl from GoddessKnits - this one has 48 rows left to knit. 3/14/07 - down to 12 rows.

Net Change - Plus one item zilch.

'Unvention Shawl' - in a pearl gray douceur et Soie - for a niece's wedding -completed 9/8/06 at 6:29:45 pm, Mississippi time, in the hotel lobby of the Best Western, Clinton, MS presented at her rehearsal dinner - taken on honeymoon. when she gets back I'll have to ask her for a photo. I finished this up in a wild spate of knitting the 7th and 8th. Finished the second ball of D & S somewhere in Ohio, started an oak leaf lace edge and got 11 repeats of that done before lack of light shut me down. Friday I managed to get to the halfway point (another 21 repeats) by lunchtime; and a further 20 before we pulled into the hotel in Clinton, MS. Another 4 repeats while sitting around the poolside with family, and 4 more in the lobby before dressing for the rehearsal dinner. Finished the last couple of points in the lobby waiting for my ride - and the last 12 stitches AFTER they were ready to go! I don't cut it close or nothin'

I *am* pacing myself. I

I *am* pacing myself. I haven't bought 'Heirloom Knitting' or 'gossamer Webs' or even 'Lace from the Attic' - though I have to admit I bought both lace books from Marianne Kinzel, and two leaflets of Christine Duchrow's designs. and the Faroese shawl book. and lately the 'Icelandic three cornered and long shawls' has been calling my name. Loudly.
