Bragging a Little

Stan Stansbury's picture

I've been working on and off for months on a top-down pullover. Yesterday afternoon, I finished the acreage required for the midriff and bound off the bottom. Yay!

Then I picked up stitches for a sleeve.

I did the chest down to the underarms in moss stitch. The K1, P1 edge of the moss stitch made picking up for the sleeves easier than easy, an absolute no brainer.

On previous sweaters picking up for sleeves has been a tense, tentative process fraught with the risk of having to quit and start over and over and over to get the right number of stitches properly spaced. This time, it was a triumphal procession as stitch after perfectly-spaced stitch jumped onto the needle.

Like the lady in the floor wax commercial, I felt proud!

Wow, Stan! What a kharmic

Wow, Stan! What a kharmic koincidence! i am also working on a top down, raglan sleeve V-neck pullover and am doing from the neck to the underarm in a k1p1 pattern on the odd (ws) rows. With all the increases it is creating its own pattern which I kinda like. Which pattern did you start with? I got mine from Ravelry. it was a free download called the "Simple Summer Tweed Top Down V-Neck" by Heidi Kirrmaier. I am working it in Lion Brand Recycled Cotton, seashell with a blue band under the armhole. Hope to see pics of your work! I'll show you mine if you show me yours!

Ms. Walker's book was what started me knitting from the topdown, along with an article in the earlier incarnation of 'Threads" when it covered all fiber arts rather than sewing. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.
