Thought I'd finally say Hi to everyone and get myself out there. My name's Tony and I'm a Massage Therapist living in Columbus Ohio. I learned to knit over 20 years ago at a wonderful LYS in Delaware, Ohio. Most of the women in the group were mothers of my classmates from HS. I knit a few sweaters in the course of a year or so and then kind of lost interest. Back then the yarn and patterns, particularly for men were pretty boring. I just got back to knitting about a month or so ago and am rediscovering how much I enjoy it.
Lo and behold there is a whole community of knitter and even more surprising men who knit, yee haw. The yarns are, well there so many to chose from, and patterns of stuff I actually wear. So needless to say I'm excited to see where this leads.
Here are some pic of my first two projects: Shifting Sands Scarf in baby alpaca(that was an expensive lesson learned) and a Knit One Below bag, I love how this turned out.
So feel free to say Hi.
Tony

Hi Tony, Welcome! You'll love this site - there's a lot of support and hopefully all your lessons won't be of the expensive kind. You can also find me on Ravelry under Mr. Hugzzz and I have a blog that I try and post to every day at www.ittakesballstoknit.com. Looking forward to seeing your stuff on here and great job on the projects - esp the bag!

Welcome I'm new here also.
Welcome
I'm new here also. Seems like a very friendly crowd. I've been knitting for about 5 months and I'm totally addicted. I just tackled my first pair of socks. I got about 3/4 done when an unfixable error forced me to rip them apart. But tomorrow I will start again! I'd like to show some of my work but my computing skills suck. Fortunately I live with a computer nerd so help is on the way. I spent some time in Columbus for business and really enjoyed my time there. But the icy wind was a killer!

Hi Tony, and welcome. I'm fairly new here myself, but these guys are marvelously helpful and supportive. They really inspire me. Love your bag and scarf too, I want to do a bag for a friend of mine, so I'm trolling for ideas.

Welcome Tony! I fell to peer pressure and added you to my Ravelry friends. ;-)
I liked the bag too, especially the color choices! Those colors are some of my favorite!
I'm trying to learn the Magic Cast on and the Magic Loop knitting with my next pair of socks. My initials attempts have been close, but not ready for prime time.
Anyway, welcome! The people here are very friendly and helpful! Can't wait to see more of your work!
Regards,
Joe

Tony! Welcome! I'm glad you joined our crew. I've added you as a friend on Ravelry too! Your bag rocks and I've loved that scarf pattern from the second I saw it! It's been in my queue for coon ages; one day I'll find time to cast on.
Just to give you a heads up, some of the members are doing a MWK KAL with boxer shorts, felted slippers and a felted Christmas stocking. It's not too late to start if you want in on any of these! Some members are knitting only one, some two and some crazy folk (like me) are attempting all three. If you would like to join in, I'd be happy to give you the details. Just send me a pm.

Okay, okay.
The bag is from a book Knit One Below by Elise Duvekot. Its called(no snickering from the peanut gallery) Bottoms Up due to the design on the bottom of the bag, which I duly forgot to take a pic of and will now to upload here. I followed pattern idea by another person on Ravelry and increased the bag size by almost a third. The yarns are Cascade 220 in Shire and Pacific & Noro Kureyon #199. You can see my comments about the bag on Ravelry. It was a bitch to start, but I was teaching myself Magic Loop to do it. But once I got the hang of it, easy peasy. Then it got felted and that was the magic.

Welcome! You'll love it here! I've only been a member a short time and I'm already addicted! ;o) Between MWK and Ravelry I've given up my addiction to FaceBook so I have more time to blog and knit!
I used to live in Cols and absolutely loved it! Maybe I'll vacation there one of these days and we can grab a coffee and do some knitting!
