3 day break

smalltownknitguy's picture

Hi all.

My wife and I head to the Outer Banks today for a 3 day teacher workshop. It should be very restful and relaxing. No kids, no lunches to make, no meals to cook, Just the two of us and our knitting needles and a packed stash of projects. I have 2 blankets, my son's socks, a sock monkey, a baby afghan, and a ball of sock yarn packed (for an Ipod cozy). Plenty to do, but not enough time to do it. I'll let you know how each project is going over the next few days. Still counting the days until our anniversary trip to Chincoteague Island for the Soxperience workshop. Hoping that it will be a great weekend.

Russell,
I hope you two have the best of time knitting and relaxing! Quick question... What pattern are you using for the sock monkey? Some of my fondest memories as a child were the sock monkey and elephant my great grandmother made me. They were made from sewing the traditional socks, but I'd love to knit my nieces some sock monkeys for them to enjoy... Who knows, maybe one for myself too! :o)

I got some cotton yarn and a pattern book from a local Michael's store in Virginia Beach. They were both on sale. I think a closeout, not going to carry in store any more. I'll send you the names of the yarn and pattern book when I get home from work today.

Here's hoping you have a great vacation and anniversary trip. It sounds as though you have a tendency to overpack projects, too. I once had to repack my bag 3 or 4 times to get all the sock yarn to fit. Then had to buy another bag to carry home my finds while on vacation! -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.
