ebony dpns

scottly's picture

I received a set of ebony size 1 dpns for Chirstmas and was very excited, but mostly use 0s for socks so I went and bought a set of those - very pricey! Beautiful, but expensive. Right away I didn't like the dark color but they felt so good in my hands. I always knit both socks using two sets at the same time so I mixed them up with my bamboo needles and I really liked this combination until I effortlessly snapped one of the ebony needles in half. Breaking a bamboo needle actually takes some effort this one pretty much snapped without provocation. As lovely as they are I'm afraid they just aren't worth the extra cash. So if your considering treating yourself - do it on something else.

Hey Scott,
If these are from Lantern Moon, they will replace the broken needle.
The email address is on their website.
I snapped one in half and they replaced it AND sent me a spare.

Very lovely to look at but

Very lovely to look at but not worth it if you need to really work them out. I had the same problem with some casein needles I bought...a joy to knit with but not for socks as I put a lot of stress on the needles when turning heels and such. Luckily, I caught onto that fact before I broke one of them and was able to lighten my touch. But having to maintain the delicate knitting was a real stressor to me.
