.......................................... ALL OF THE ABOVE!
Boys, and ladies, (you figure that one out for yourselves), There have been so many of you that have responded to this KAL thingy and I just do not want to leave anyone out. Therefore pick the xmas stocking, the clogs, or the shorts. As for myself I'm doing all three. Y'all have been so kind as to voice why you want to do a certain project that it's impossible to just for me to decide on just one. In my thinking we can all look at each others work and learn and decide if in the future we want to do that particular one.
That said... Here is MY offer! For the shorts guys..... while the pattern is available on the net, and the least expensive I have found is 5 bucks, the shipping cost is highway robbery 5 to 11 dollars and that sucks. Therefore, IF YOU WANT THE PATTERN, my LYS has ordered 15 copies and they are due in by next Monday March 1. The cost is still 5 a copy but I will pay for the postage. Speak up fast in case I need to order more. I figure a couple of stamps is not going to send me to the gutter. If you speak up and give me your address (I promise I will not give it to anyone nor stalk you) I can have it out in the mail by a week from Wednesday. But keep in mind y'all are gonna send me my 5 bucks! Also keep in mind that if you don't have them there are a couple of circular needles involved. Also, my advice is that for yarn substitutions consult your yarn store or go to yarndex.com or ravelry. Guys let me know on this one ASAP.
Clog people!!!!!!!! (working on a pair now) I have used the "old" pattern in the past but am working with the 'new' pattern and as I said, gives additional rows for wide feet. Please note (and I almost swallowed a bottle of Jack before I had the brainstorm to look up the errata) that MENS SIZE MEDIUM ROW 40 SHOULD GIVE AN ENDING STITCH COUNT OF 49. Double check this on fiber trends web site and also if you plan to do any other size. One more thing. The pattern calls for needles size 13 24" circ and a 13 16 in circ. When doning the men's sizes I have never had to change to a smaller size needle but you will still need an additional circ to pick up stitches. In short... don't go out and buy three needles. I cannot speak for the womens size here. OH.... Fiber Trends felted clog pattern AC-33 and the new has an 'e' on the end or some sort of bull... stuff)
Felted Christmas stocking people! (As soon as Bradley and Eric get back from visiting Bob Eubanks with their new dining room set.....................................) The website for the pattern is http://home.howstuffworks.com/free-knitting-patterns-for-beginners11.htm
Note that on this pattern the cuff is knitted wrong side out as it will be folded over with the right side eventually show.
Now when we all get our proverbial crap together we'll set a start date and just have a fun time with it. Post pics of our progress, our gripes ...whatever..
I am particularly looking forward to seeing the talent, creativity and color choices that you guys come up with. I know I sometimes get stuck in a rut colorwise and somtimes I just don't see how two or more colors will go together .
Let's have fun!!!!
Chris

I've not done the felted
I've not done the felted version of the stocking, but have a a very similar "flat" version, and it's very easy- and, since it's done in the flat, if you wanna add some kind of intarsia colorwork to it, it's very friendly to that too. You'll have no prob!
just remember that felting
just remember that felting colourwork tends to lose detail; and different colours (even from the same company/brand/line) may felt differently.
Thanks for organizing this
Thanks for organizing this Chris, and for your patience in listening to all our snide little comments. I think y ou deserve an additional Jack Daniels for all your efforts--you have my permission.
I think I will go with the clogs. I love the idea of knitting something and then throwing into the washer to see it come out as something else--it's the closest thing to magic in my life! And, I actually have size 13 needles in bamboo. I stole them from my sister after my mother told her that her knitting was not as good as mine so she gave it up, lol!
Thanks, Chris, for
Thanks, Chris, for accommodating everyone. (I don't wear underwear and am too old to believe in Santa Claus.) I have the old clog pattern in Canada but have never made a pair. I am going up there for a bit next week so will get some wool and join in.

As I have only knit one half of a sock in my life (I'm a great starter but hope or expect someone else to do the finishing) I think I am going to try my hand at the Christmas Stocking. The shorts are intrigueing but I do not believe anyone here would wear them, no matter how much they love me.
