hey guys, thanks for all the great comments!! i am so excited about the baby hat, i think found a great new quick gift idea for all my friends and family that seem to be having babies left and right.
the pattern actually calls for starting the hat on 16" circs, which i tried and had no luck with. so i decided to start directly on the DPNs which worked out great. i think i am going to like working on DPNs, and will definitely try the tricks that you all recommend.

What seam? You mean the loose stitches where the needles meet? The tension will even out with time, so it's probably not worth worrying about. When I move from one dpn to the next, I usually do the first stitch on the new needle and give a slight tug to snug it up. You have to be careful not to make it too tight, though. That hat looks fantastic!
LOVE IT!!! How did you
