Is someone able to direct me to a site that gives you an estimation of how much yarn one needs to knit a sweater. For example: For a 42 inch sweater you need x yards of sport weight, y yards of fingering and so on. I thank you in advance.

There is a little booklet
There is a little booklet out there that has a whole chart of yarn estimates. That I carry around when I go shopping, but googling works too.
