It's official!!!
My tartan, "Cailleach" is now officially registered in the Scottish Register of Tartans!!!
http://www.tartanregister.gov.uk/tartanDetails.aspx?ref=10152
I applied for it to be a Commemorative, but, they registered it as Fashion -- I think, also, because I placed no restrictions on it and it doesn't commemorate a particular person, per se, seeing as it's in honour of the very Goddess, herself.
Classifications, aside, later on down the line, centuries later, it's going to end up ancient, and tisks and tasks won't mean a thing... most importantly, official!!!

Congrats, Robert. I've been away from the library for a few days and couldn't respond until now. I said before that it is a lovely tartan and I am glad it was accepted. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

That's way cool Robert. I'm a member of Clan Thompson http://clanthompson.org and rightly proud of our family tartan, but designing your own is something special.
Have you ever tried to knit a tartan? I read something online the other day about knitting a tartan. It said you knit all the alternating colors for the horizontal stripes first and then do the vertical stripes with duplicate stitch. Seems like that would be very difficult and complicated.
That's excellent Robert! My
That's excellent Robert! My grandfather on my mother's side hailed directly from Scotland (last name Guthrie). He died when I was 5. but I still remember him, and his strong Scottish brogue. It was my grandmother who lived another 15 years who tried to teach me to knit. (Never really learned until 2 years ago.)
Even so, I had no idea that you could develop and register your own tartan!

Hmm, Scottish "burr"; Irish "brogue". Sorry, Paul, but Grandma Walsh would be spinning in the sod if I let this pass. Erin go bragh!

Ah I see now why you might have thought that, but no, I am a member of the Tartan Register , and a few times a week they send out the new designs that they have recorded in their index.
I'd been looking out for it and just wanted to say well done!

That is a beautiful tartan, Robert. I belong to the Armstrong clan. Are you going to have a kilt made or a throw or tie or whatever. Wonderful that you started a bit of history.

That is some of the coolest news I've heard in a while!! I had no idea one could design and register a Tartan. And I love the symbolism in yours. Nice design and great work on getting it recognized.
