I'm a relatively new knitter (just started in November) but I'm definitely addicted!
I just finished this baby blanket for a good friend of mine who is having a baby. She's doesn't want to know the gender of the baby so I chose a khaki color yarn to go with her nursery which is mostly cream, beige, and other neutrals. The basket weave pattern was very simple but has a wonderful textured look. And, it's very practical and usable. Can't wait to give it to her!!
Now onto the next project! Can't seem to put my needles down.

Extremely well done. As the others have said, the handknit afghans turn into heirlooms. That makes it well worth the time you put into them. I hope your friend really enjoys it. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

Nice, nice, nice. I love baby stuff that's not (for one thing pastel) traditional. This blanket will probably hang around for years and years. You did a wonderful job with a great contemporary pattern and neutrals are the new baby pinks. :-))
