Hey guys! I'm on the hunt for a fair isle gansey pattern with a gusset. I have the general idea of how to do this on my own but I would really like a guide for my first attempt. In particular, I want one where you pick up the stitches for the sleeves and work down to the cuff. Does anyone know where I can find one?

Thanks

Buck

I would recommend "Knitting

I would recommend "Knitting In the Old Way" by Priscilla Gibson-Roberts. On pages 84 - 85 she gives the description of how to knit the basic gansey shape, including an explanation of how to create the underarm gussets. She also has explanations for a couple of fair isle ganseys on pages 163 - 166 and around 6 variations of the basic gansey shape on pages 241 - 253 including charted stitch designs for texture instead of color work. These are not line by line patterns though and they require you to do the gauge and math to figure out where to go with your sweater. Good luck! An authentic gansey is on my list of to-do projects this year also!
