Cable scarf

I'm currently working on a double reverse cable.  Its 36 stitches across in a thick alpaca.  It has 3 cables on one side, and 2 on thet other.  Got pattern off Lionbrands.com I think.  Anyway, I like my man scarves thinner, maybe like 4-5 inches.  Anyone have any patterns or tips on places with a good man scarf that involves cables that might only be 4-5 inches thick?  Thanks for any help.  Love th egroup so far.

I won at the county fair

October 2005 I took a fair isle Christmas stocking class from our local yarn shop.  After completing the class and finding out that I like to fair isle I started a sweater for myself.  Last week I submitted the sweater to our local county fair, not only did I win first place in the knitting division, but I took best of show.  Took me by surprise, I've only been knitting for 16 months.  Had to laugh when I overheard a women telling her daughter "a man knit it".

Just thought I would brag alittle, male knitters rock!

In Rememberance

I would just like to send my sympathies to those that loved and lost as a result of the dreadful events 5 years ago today.  I will personally be taking time out to sit and remember all those affected by the attack on Twin Towers.  You will all be in my thoughts.

A New Mobile Chat Community For Male Knitters Only

Hey guys I just started a new mobile chat group on upoc.com that is strictly for male knitters only.  I thought this would be something fun for those of you who enjoy text messaging on your cellphones.  It is a private group.  You will have to send request to join and wait for my approval.  I did this to keep the group safe and fun.

Here's the address for the group if your interested:  http://upoc.com/group.jsp?group=maleknitters

For those of you not familiar with upoc.com and mobile chat communities you can go here ---> http://www.upoc.com/help.jsp#moreInfo to find out what upoc is all about and how to use it.

Blocking?

So, I am approaching the end of a project, and I've...well... I'm a blocking virgin, but I anticipate a need for it with this project. I was wondering if you delightful gentlemen could help me out. Be it tutorials, directions, tips, tricks, anything, it will be much appreciated.

Thanks!

another 'interstitial' project.

i've started yet another 'interstitial project' as a break from mitered squares and the amazing-never-will-be-finished hooded pullover.  i bought some Aurora "under the ice" ribbon-type yarn from Yarn Bee and i think i'm in love!! i've never used something that takes such big clunky needles(size 15) before:  they go "klack-klack" and not "click-click"  anyways, i decided to knit it up as a scarf for a friend.....this stuff is too "glam" for a cranky old guy like m'self to pull off, anyway.  started last night just working a littl

Hunter hat

I am looking for a pattern for a hunter hat:  The kind that hunters wear, with the fold up or down ear flaps.  Has anyone ever seen one?

Thanks,
