So, I'm back...not that I ever held a great pressence on this site or anything to begin with, but I joined about 2 years ago when I feel deeply in-love with knitting.
PS...this is the hat, it's pretty cool and very easy! I love it!

Now, I know that I can probably find this online in 6.5 seconds, and I just might as soon as I am done posting this entry. However, the hat that I just finished instructs me to "single crochet" around the edge in a contrasting color...now I have the contrasting color, and UPS is bringing me a big box of knitting supplies (and crochet hooks) this afternoon...but can anyone tell me (or direct me towards an priceless resource that can tell me) how I might go about this "single crochet"? Clearly I am a crochet virgin! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!
So, my present collection of projects in progress is about to dissapear. As I am going to be spening Labor Day at a secluded lake house I can't think of anything better to do than gather supplies to start a new project! For some reason I have this voice in my head telling me to make a Cable Scarf...and it is a forcefull voice!
Is this a dumb idea for a new knitter? How hard (honestly) is this endevor going to be? I really have the burning desire to try it! Does anyone have any cool basic Cable-Scarf patterns? Resources?
Dare I...?

Does anyone ever use the chat feature? Just wondering...
So I have been wanting to make this really cute ear flap hat...I get it, perhaps a little to ambitious for my firstknitting in the round project! But I have now trashed two tries for coming out twisted...and the third is twisted yet again. I would hate to have to abort this attempt as well! I decided (perhaps later that I should have) to come to the source of all wisdom and see if there was anything that could be done...? Can I salvage this twisted hat?
...at least I have a half finished scarf to dejectedly work on.
Don't laugh...but could someone please tell me how to update my profile...I am sure it's some link staring me right in the face, but I haven't had lunch yet and I'm losing my mind!
Whatever he wants, he gets...and the boy(friend) wants a hat! Now, I am knew to kintting and quite timid at that. I have only done/tought myself the simple kint stich. Any suggestions for a cool/sexy hat that is easy to comprehend/learn how to do? Any help would be greatly appreciated...there is a 40% off sale at my LYS tonight!
Hey everyone, I am thrilled to announce that I just finished my very first sacrf! ...I think it turned out pretty well for having basically taught myself.
Needles to say, I have begun yet another scarf (I'll do one more before branching out into something more complicated, any suggestions?). I found that I didn't know what to do with my hands for the three days between projects. I am truly obssesed!
A word of thanks to everyone for thier kind advice, I am finding this site to be a priceless resource!
...Which brings me to my next question....
Hey all! I just joined this site, and tonight I am going to be embarking on my knitting adventure! My Aunt tought me the basics this weekend and I must say that I am obssesed! The only problem is that I don't know where to start...I have purchased a book and am reading up but am totally in the dark as to what to get when I go to the knit shop this evening! Might anyone have some advice as to good tools/materials for the sealous beginner? Any advice would be creatly appreciated! THanks!
